Unboxing the Wandrd Rogue Sling 9L V2

Kyle Humber

After using the Rogue Sling 6L from Wandrd for a couple years, I became a big fan of it for local excursions but found myself wanting more space for trips away from home. When Wandrd announced version 2 of the sling, I knew it was my time to pick up a 9L version!

Unboxing Time!

I've been a fan of Wandrd for years now! I have their PRVKE 31L camera bag and Rogue Sling 6L (V1). With my sights set on getting out and about more and taking my camera with me, I knew I wanted a bigger sling bag. Back in August (2025), Wandrd launched their kickstarter for version 2 of the Rogue Sling, it was the perfect opportunity to get exactly that!

The turnaround time from campaign to shipping was pretty fast so I didn't have to wait long to have the 9L V2 in my hands.

Love for my 6L V1 Sling

I knew I would like the 9L Rogue because I have been a huge fan of my V1 6L Rogue—the build quality is excellent, storage is great and the aesthetics are adventurous and rugged without being too industrial. Since I've got it, I've found the 6L to be great for shorter adventures that are closer to home. I just need to carry the essentials while I'm out with the knowledge I'm returning back to base in a few hours.

Funny enough, I was finding the limitations of the 6L while I was on a road trip in August. When trying to fit in more daily carry items into the sling along with my camera geer, it was getting quite packed. As I sat in one of the BnB's after a long day of travel, the Kickstarter for the Rogue Sling V2 popped up—how serendipitous! The universe knew I was in need of a new camera bag 😆.

50% More Storage!

Going from a 6L compartment to a 9L compartment might not sound like a huge increase, but really it is a 50% increase! I wasn't expecting how much of a difference it would make. The main compartment is so spacious—I can fit my camera, a second lens, battery pack and more if I arranged it differently. Awesome! Right now my main camera is the Sony a6400, so I am rocking a smaller APS-C body. The 9L will easily be able to accommodate full frame cameras. And for me adding in more daily carry items like sunscreen, glasses, etc. I'll have ample space to do so with the 9L where the 6L was feeling quite packed.

Worryless™ Locking Zipper Pullers

In addition to the the bag itself, I took advantage of the Kickstarter discount for the Worryless™ Locking Zipper Pullers. Similar in look to the default zipper pullers on the sling, these ones have the added benefit of a locking mechanism, adding a layer of safety to your bag. When interlocked, the zippers are limited in how far they can open. After twisting them apart 90 degrees, you can pull the pullers apart, allowing full access to the respective compartment.

This doesn't replace a lock and key or combination of higher-security locks, but this does help to reduce the risk of pickpockets when you're out and about whilst maintaining easy access to your gear. I also got the yellow versions as an homage to my original yellow Rogue Sling. As much as I wish there was a yellow version of the V2 series, I can't deny that orange has become my colour for adventure, and the Sedona Orange variant Wandrd offers is beautiful in its own right 🤩.

Bigger, but Still Portable

After using my 6L V1 Rogue Sling, I have been fully converted to sling life! The thought of packing a full camera back feels daunting and unnecessary to me. Depending on what kind of video work I am going to be doing, setting up the PRVRKE makes sense, but majority of the time I'll just want to rock around with a barebones kit that allows me to be light and versatile. Even with moving up to the increased compartment size of the 9L V2, it's still quite a portable sling.

I'm 6'2" (188cm) tall and this is how it looks on my body. I only played around with adjusting the main strap a little bit, so I might still tweak it more. But overall, it feels good and fits well on my person!

Check it out for yourself!

I'm not sponsored or anything—I bought this bag with my own money. I've owned and used Wandrd products for years now so I can vouch for the quality and awesomeness of these products! If you want to learn more about the Wandrd Rogue Sling 9L V2 for yourself, you can check it out on the Wandrd website here.

It also comes in 3 sizes (4L, 6L & 9L), all available in 7 colourways.

Can't Wait to Take it for a Spin!

The next step with the Rogue 9L V2 is to take it out for a spin and see how it fares! I'll be making a video about that once I've spent some time with the bag. Until then, enjoy my unboxing vid and stay tuned for more!
